In-person education
Every salon has balayage.
Almost none have this.
Air Touch is still rare in Australia, and rare is what clients pay for. One day with Kateryna, an award-winning Joico educator trained by the people who created the technique, and it’s on your menu too. Sorry, everyone else.

The technique, and the teacher
Why Air Touch, and why learn it here
It’s not slow. Done properly it’s no slower than what you’re doing now, and often faster: nothing to comb out, no root shadow at the basin.
Every method is an instrument. Highlights leave lines and a harsh regrowth. Balayage builds dimension but can’t handle roots. Teasy lights kill the line but damage the hair. Air Touch is the instrument without the workaround: air blows each section clear, only the long, strong hair takes the lightener, and the blend builds itself at the root.
What changes. Clients get low-maintenance colour and grey blending that actually blends. You get faster appointments and your pickiest client becomes your best one.
My honest filter. If you can already do a full Air Touch and a grey blending formula that holds its cool tone for months, you don’t need me, and I’d rather say so than take your money. If you can’t, this is built for you. These techniques come from the Eastern European masters who created them, and I went and got them so you wouldn’t have to. What you’ll notice isn’t the certificate. It’s Monday morning: saying yes to clients you thought were asking for the impossible, corrections that feel easier, a raving client leaving your chair.
For you if
You’re a salon owner bringing Air Touch in house, a solo or freelance stylist adding a service almost nobody else offers, or a practising hairdresser new to the technique.
Not for you if
You don’t hold a hairdressing qualification, or you’re still new to foiling. Get confident with foils first, then come back. I’ll be here.
What hairdressers say
Reviews from salons and educators
“Wow, what an incredible training session with the amazing Kateryna Gribinyuchenko at Quarry Avenue in Sydney! Learning the Air Touch Blonding technique firsthand was a game-changer. Kateryna has an incredible way of breaking down the process so it feels totally achievable, and her passion for creating beautiful, seamless blends is truly inspiring.

What I loved most was how interactive the session was: we weren’t just watching; we were encouraged to get up close, ask questions, and really get involved in the technique. Kateryna made sure everyone felt confident, giving us the skills to take straight back to the salon. We at Joico Australia are beyond excited to welcome Kateryna to our Guest Artist team, bringing her incredible technique classes to even more stylists. We can’t wait to see the impact she’ll have. This is just the beginning!”

“We recently had the pleasure of having Kateryna in the salon to teach our team AirTouch techniques, and we couldn’t have been happier with the experience. What we loved most was how simply and clearly Kateryna explained everything. She took a technique that can seem quite complex and made it easy for our team to understand and apply straight away.

Every member of the team felt comfortable, confident and supported throughout the day. Kateryna also shared some fantastic ideas around where AirTouch fits within the salon and how it can create beautiful, high-impact results while being more efficient behind the chair. The biggest compliment we can give is that our team were confidently using the technique on clients the very next day, and they were absolutely thrilled with the results. We would highly recommend her to any salon looking to build confidence and skills in AirTouch.
A few weeks on: “We are having so much success with the Air Touch technique since your training. Today we received a review from a client who never leaves reviews and, if I’m honest, is one of the hardest people to impress. She absolutely loves her hair, and her daughters now want to book with us too. Education done well has a ripple effect far beyond the day of training.””

“Thank you again for coming into the salon and showing us a new colour technique that we can give to our guests. Everyone enjoyed the session and your delivery and explanation was easy to follow. The team have already started to use the AirTouch technique in the salon. Thank you for your time and professionalism.”

“Kateryna came to my Sydney salon to teach my team the Air Touch technique and although we had some very sceptical hairstylists in the room she really put all of our concerns to rest. Air Touch can actually save you time in the salon and she showed us exactly how to do that. I’ve been using this technique on my clients and they absolutely love it!

“I first discovered Kateryna on Instagram and was immediately drawn to her incredible work. She later reached out to me to teach me the Air Touch technique, and I’m so glad I agreed. It turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve made in my 18 years of hairdressing.

“I recently completed the Air Touch Technique course with Kateryna and I must say, it exceeded my expectations in every way. The course was thoughtfully designed to provide deep insights and practical strategies, and one of the things I appreciated most was how well structured the content was.

The course delivered immense value, equipping me with tools and knowledge that I can use long term. I particularly loved the colouring board that Kate invented, the warm welcome and the absolutely amazing atmosphere at the salon. I highly recommend this course to anyone looking to gain new knowledge. It’s a game changer, and a worthwhile investment.”

Choose your format
Four ways to learn Air Touch
Every format is hands-on, tailored to your level and built so you can use the technique on a paying client the first day back. Pick the one that fits how you work.
01
In-Salon Team Education
Best for
Salon owners who want the whole team learning together, in one day, in their own salon.
How it runs
A full training day tailored to your team’s level: theory, live demonstration and hands-on practice, structured so your stylists are using the technique on clients the next day.
You’ll learn
Sectioning and placement for seamless grow out, the science behind the blend, formulation for cool, long-lasting results, and how to price and position the technique in your salon.
02
One-on-One Coaching
Best for
Solo stylists who want a day built entirely around their own gaps and goals.
How it runs
Personalised, hands-on coaching with Kateryna, in her Sydney studio or your own salon. Choose your focus: Air Touch, grey blending, the Grey Camouflage Method, or a mix of everything.
You’ll learn
Whatever moves you forward most: Air Touch, advanced colouring methods such as grey blending or the Grey Camouflage Method, precision cutting and styling, or a mix of it all.
03
Groups of Freelance Hairdressers
Best for
Chair renters, mobile and studio stylists who gather a few colleagues.
How it runs
The same full training day salons get, shared between the group, so the cost is split, the room is people who work the way you do, and everyone leaves with a technique they can charge properly for.
You’ll learn
Sectioning and placement for seamless grow out, the science behind the blend, formulation for cool, long-lasting results, and how to price, present and book Air Touch as an independent stylist.
04
Group Workshops
Best for
Stylists outside Sydney, or anyone who wants a lower-cost way in.
How it runs
Scheduled workshop days across NSW and Australia. Small groups, real models, honest answers. Dates and locations are announced on Instagram and through the enquiry form.
You’ll learn
Live sectioning and placement on real models, formulation and blending technique in real time, and direct, honest feedback from Kateryna and the group.
Not sure which one? Send a note with where you work and what you want to learn, and Kateryna will point you to the right format.
Frequently Asked Questions
Still have questions? Reach out via our contact page, I'm always happy to help.
-
Salon owners usually go for in-salon team training so the whole team learns together in one day. Solo stylists tend to prefer one-on-one coaching or group workshops, built entirely around their own goals. If you're not based in Sydney or want a lower cost way in, keep an eye on the group workshops held across NSW and Australia.
-
Every path can be built around Air Touch technique, advanced colouring methods, grey blending using Air Touch or the Grey Camouflage Method, or a mix of everything, whatever will move your skills forward the most.
-
Hands-on, almost entirely.
You'll work through real client scenarios, get correction tips and feedback on your own technique as you go, and in group and in-salon sessions you'll practise directly on models or mannequins, depending on your skill level.
The focus is precision rather than volume. You'll do fewer sections properly instead of rushing through more, and there's no pressure to keep up with anyone else in the room. The aim is that you can use the technique on a paying client your first day back at the salon.
-
Not at all.
Training is tailored to your current level, whether you're completely new to the technique or refining skills you already have.
COURSES AND LEARNING
-
Sessions are built around your availability rather than a fixed timetable, so we'll find a time that actually works for you or your team.
-
One-on-one coaching can happen in your own salon or in Kateryna's Sydney studio. In-salon training comes to you wherever your salon is based, and group workshops are scheduled across NSW and Australia throughout the year.
-
Get in touch through the enquiry form with a bit about what you're after, one-on-one coaching, in-salon training or a group workshop, and Kateryna will follow up to lock in a date that suits.
-
In-salon team training is built around your team size, so the day is tailored to however many stylists you have. Group workshops are kept small by design, so everyone gets proper hands-on time and honest feedback, not just a seat in a crowd.
